In-house workshops with Michelle
Hi and welcome!
I am thrilled to have been engaged by your workplace to support you and your team.
A leader at your organisation and I have spent time preparing an evidence based, engaging and highly practical program for you and your colleagues.
I have worked as a mental health occupational therapist, psychotherapist and family therapist in the Victorian public mental health system and understand the emotional and systemic pressures that professionals in health, education, and community sectors face. This ensures that every session I deliver provides tangible skills to sustain yourselves and your teams within this challenging environment.
The session you attend will be highly engaging so expect an interactive experience with plenty of discussion, reflection, and real-world application. I will create a psychologically safe space where you will have time to reflect, identify your existing practice wisdom, and gain knowledge and practical strategies to enhance your skills and frameworks in supervision, leadership, and/or thriving sustainably at work.
I value lifelong learning and as such will encourage you to ask questions, explore assumptions, and embrace learning as an ongoing, essential part of your professional life.
Below you will find details about the content of your workshop and my responses to commonly asked questions about the training.
“I learnt so much and am so excited to bring this back to work and use it! It’s been a while since I’ve felt this excited feeling about learning something
new!”

My unique “thought leadership” has seen me deliver to over 30,000 professionals throughout Australia and New Zealand. I have also presented at national and International conferences.
I ensure that every session provides tangible skills to sustain yourselves and your teams. Everything will be grounded in compassion, sustainability, and real-world practice - I do not plan to throw unrealistic strategies at you!

Quality supervision is a uniquely tailored, professional development process that supports clinical and professional skill development, reflection as well as the essential skills of self-care and personal well-being.
Your workplace has invested in supervision training for you and your colleagues as they want to build a supervisory-friendly workplace culture to ensure supervision flourishes in your organisation.
They also want all of the team to have access to the most recent, evidence-based knowledge about best practice supervision and training that is aligned with the recognised Supervision Frameworks such as The Superguide: a handbook for supervising allied health professionals from NSW Health the Victorian Department of Health’s Clinical Supervision Framework and the SA Health Allied Health Professional Supervision Framework.
The training covers all aspects related to best practice supervision including:
key principles of professional and clinical supervision
building a supervision framework
developing learning goals
addressing adult learning principles and learning trauma
applying different learning approaches, stages and styles of learning
building a psychologically safe supervisory relationship
enhancing the workplace learning culture to make it supervision-friendly
providing feedback (especially managing those “tricky” conversations),
reflecting on how supervision fits with other related workplace processes
applying the practicalities of supervision throughout a range of workplace contexts.
I have taken the time to understand your workplace context, met with the training organiser to unpack the training, and reviewed your supervision policies.
The feedback that we receive about this training is that the content is relevant to everyone new or experienced to supervision. For anyone new to providing supervision support you will gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to be a supervisor. If you are a more experienced clinician and leader, with experience supervising colleagues, you will have the opportunity to reinforce, consolidate and extend your learning about supervision.

Your Questions Answered
-
You don’t need to do a lot to get ready. My workshops are designed to meet you where you are at.
That said, below are a few gentle suggestions to help you arrive feeling settled and ready to get the most out of the experience.
1. Bring your whole self (not your ‘perfect’ self)
This is a space for reflection, not performance. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just bring your curiosity, your questions, and a willingness to explore what matters in your work and leadership.
2. Think about what learning opportunities are front of mind for you
Are there challenges you are currently facing or things you’ve been reflecting on? Let those sit in the back of your mind. They often help the learning feel more relevant and personal.
3. Set aside the time
As best you can, clear some space around the session-especially right before and after we meet. I build in regular breaks to support focus and wellbeing, but having a little space either side can help you really take it in.
4. No need to pre-read (unless otherwise shared with you)
If there is ever pre-reading or something specific to review beforehand, you will be informed well in advance. Otherwise, come as you are. All the resources you need will be provided on the day.
5. Be ready to reflect—not to be ‘trained’
Take notes on what resonates, and think about how it applies to your day-to-day work.
This isn’t about ticking a box or learning rules. My sessions are about growing insight, strengthening practice, and supporting you to thrive in your role and as a team. It’s time for you, not just about work.
-
Participation is always encouraged, never forced. I respect that everyone learns differently. If you need a moment of quiet, space to think, or time to reflect rather than speak, that’s always okay.
-
There’s no such thing as a silly questions - the only silly questions are the ones we don’t ask!
Whether you are brand new to a topic or highly experienced, your contribution matters. I aim to make sure everyone feels respected and heard and genuinely invite questions, comments and feedback. -
Expect a room that feels safe and contained. Regular breaks are scheduled throughout the day.
-
You will walk away with tools, ideas, and strategies. More importantly, you will leave with clarity, a sense of being reconnected to what matters most about your work, and often, a few gentle reminders you didn’t know you needed.
-
Please direct questions regarding the timing of the training, catering, phone usage etc. to the program organiser in your workplace.
