Is your work re-wiring your brain?
If your professional role requires you to be on the lookout for problems, mitigate risks and anticipate challenges, then this post is for you.
Although you may not be aware of it, all of the regular focus on negatives is continually re-wiring your brain.
As we focus and look for what is wrong, our brain wiring that looks for problems is reinforced, making it easier and easier to do this.
In fact, it can become our default way of looking at everything in our lives.
For this reason, we need to make sure we over-ride it, otherwise we will be in the habit of seeing the world through grey coloured glasses and lose appreciation for what is going well.
A good practice is to remind ourselves to specifically look for the good.
Practices such as gratitude are excellent for balancing these default ways of looking at the world.
What is one thing you can be grateful for today?
Who could you express appreciation towards today?
It is good for your wellbeing and for the wellbeing of those around you.
