Addressing the Cost of Caring: Caring for our Overwhelmed Healthcare Warriors

Never before, have the pressures of dysfunctional systems been so impactful.

Over recent weeks, savage budget cuts to Victorian health services, and impactful changes to NDIS have left many health professionals disheartened and defeated.

This is not restricted to health. In my work, I've heard stories of extreme pressures wrought by regulators and other governing bodies in other sectors too.

I hear you.

It is not fair.

We come to this sector to contribute, to be of service, to support the community.

We invest a lot to work in our professions.

We train in best practice and learn to align with evidence and data.

We care deeply.

We choose an honourable career to make a difference.

We feel privileged to work with our clients, to help, to be present and support.

But the current decisions that are being made at higher levels, seem so disconnected from the daily work and are leaving our workforce devastated, questioning their value and capacity to keep going.

Our dedicated and caring professional workforce are accountable to our regulatory bodies like AHPRA, but they are funded in ways that are riddled with almost insurmountable barriers to offering best practice.

How long can we keep going in the face of this?

We thought the emotional and mental ‘wear and tear’ of client work would be the hard part of our work.

But it is not. The systemic pressures have increasingly become the most challenging part.

To honour this and provide support I've designed a series of free webinars for these very tough times.

Addressing the Cost of Caring Series recognises that you can’t out-resilience a toxic system.

Nor should you feel under pressure to.

It’s not necessary to be all happy and positive in light of an overwhelming difficult situation. It is OK and totally understandable to have strong emotional responses to this.

At the same time, we can make choices to care for ourselves, to find ways to get through each day even though we are feeling slammed.

There are many topics we will cover, the first 4 are planned:

* Addressing the Cost of Caring - 4.15pm Monday 29 July

* Moral Injury - 4.15pm Tuesday 6 August

* Thriving Sustainably - 4.15pm Wednesday 14 August

* Setting Boundaries - 4.15pm Monday 19 August

Further topics will include:

* Self-Care

* Self-Compassion

* Caring for your team

* Building Frustration Tolerance

* Burnout Prevention

* Leading through difficult times

If you're interested in attending one or more sessions, please complete the form below. Registration details will then be sent out prior to each webinar.

And of course, please take care of yourselves and reach out if you think I can support you in anyway.
