Wishing you a fabulous 2022

I hope that you’re reading this email with fresh eyes, mind, body and soul after a great summer break. However I do know that many of you have been unable to take a break, been unwell or in iso and have greatly missed the opportunity to restore and refresh, and to you, I send my gratitude and heartfelt wishes.

Who knows what 2022 will bring?

It is hard to sit with the uncertainty of our times. Hard to plan, hard to know what to expect.
We long for times that were more predictable, when we could plan, confident in a more stable future – and it does appear to be a bit more in our sights.

Whatever your goals are for 2022, I am here to support you and your team.

The new year gives us a good opportunity to reflect on last year and our hopes for the year ahead.

What is on your mind? What have you taken away from 2021?

It is possible to reflect on the year in terms of our contributions and, also in terms of the strengths and skills that you’ve used and developed, so that we can take these skills forward more intentionally.

What have you have achieved? Just surviving 2021 is a huge achievement in itself! I have outlined my own reflections about the skills, strengths and contributions below in the hope it will inspire you to sit down and map out yours.

What strengths have you drawn upon?

For me, the strengths I have most drawn on has been perseverance, empathy, connection, collaboration and at times patience and tolerance.

What skills did you enhance?

For me, the skills have that I have continued to enhance include online training delivery, self-care which is an ever-present ongoing work in progress and good boundary setting. In the context of this unpredictable time we are living through, I have worked a lot on anchoring in myself, so I am less reliant on external things to be stable in order to feel OK.

In terms of contributions, a round up of 2021:

  • Last year I delivered almost 100 days of online training, through public and in-house workshops, receiving amazing feedback from my wonderful community

  • I had almost 2000 workshop participants from all over the globe – Ireland, Indonesia, California, London, New Zealand and every corner of Australia.

  • I supported many leaders in developing their leadership and supervisory skills

  • Facilitated several team building and development days, helping a range of teams build their above-the-line teamwork skills

  • Built my NZ community through working with a NZ colleague

  • Continued developing my Thriving Professional Women 10-month self-leadership programs – had 2 intakes, one in February and one in July.

  • I embraced technology wholeheartedly, presented at a few online conferences, was the guest on several podcasts.

  • I have also accepted that training online is the new norm. As much as I love face to face training, with the risks of covid, as well as the incredible ease of access that the online environment provides, I know this is here to stay.

  • I closed the Delta Centre after 20 years of running a mental health and allied health clinic. The Delta Centre was central to my work for so many years and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunities to work with a wonderful team of colleagues providing counselling and allied health care to many thousands of clients. However over recent years, prior to covid I was hardly there and now that we work remotely for so much of the time, the large office space became unnecessary.

  • My wonderful admin team of Rita, Mary and Tamsin continue to adapt, learn and grow in their skills, strengths and team, and are all very happy with our new work arrangements.

What’s ahead in 2022...

  • Public workshops are already filling up for the first half of 2022 and new dates will be added regularly.

  • My third Thriving Professional Women’s program started with 12 wonderful women this week, and we are already taking expressions of interest for the July intake.

  • Individual organisation programs are heavily booked, almost filling my calendar till end of June.

  • With all the continual adjustments and changes over the past 2 years, I have spent more time learning about technology and online platforms, than the science and content of what I deliver. This year, I’m very pleased to have more time to invest in my own learning in order to continue to be at the forefront of leadership, self-leadership, emotional intelligence and professional supervision.

I look forward to this year, with hope, that we will all continue to rise above the challenges of the past 2 years and find a new normal, full of care and compassion for each other.

Here’s to our ongoing learning and development!
